MISS TEXAS USA 2009
HOORAY!!! For Texas!! This is Crystle Stewart's replacement for Miss Texas. Since Crystle is in Vietnam, she wasn't able to crown Brooke, but that's okay! Am I happy that Brooke has won? Yes! Brooke is the gorgeous blonde beauty that has what it takes to win a back to back for Texas. And to top it all off, Miss USA is due for another blonde stunner, so who better than Brooke Daniels? I honestly think that Texas has another chance. Great job Texas!!! Congratulations Brooke!
OH CANADA!
So Samantha Tajik won Miss Universe Canada. Many people had mixed emotions about it....including myself. I didn't think she deserved to win this year, mainly because there was another beautiful delegate that should've won. That individual was Sahar Biniaz (picture below).
The good thing is...Samantha has grown on me a great amount and I think that she can crack her way into the semifinals. She has an amazing body, and she seems to be very well packaged. The only thing I have to say about Sam is....her personality NEEDS to start showing. Her closeup interview was very bland....and she needs to up her game in order to make an impact on the judging panel, otherwise she's just going to be a backstage girl........Otherwise, Sam is projecting pretty well...and although there hasn't been much hype on this girl....I think she will surprise everyone. I love the fact that she's Persian, and originally from Vancouver! Go Samantha!
Sahar should win Miss Universe Canada within the next 2 years!
Viva Republica Dominicana!
Wow!!!! I don't care if she's making an impact right now or not-Marianne Cruz is HOT!!!!!. I really like the fact that she doesn't look like she's had any work done. She looks the same to me....and I think that she is a strong contender for a semifinalist spot. Her national costume performance was great...she had so much energy and it definitely showed off her ramp skills. She has the height, the unique looks and the Latina sexiness. Great choice for the Dominican Republic!
Crystle Stewart Rocks!
So this is the face of perseverance? You bet your ass it is ! Crystle Stewart is the epitome of determination and the attitude of NEVER giving up. She had competed in Miss Texas, 5 times before she actually had won the title. It was her determination that earned her the Texas crown, and this brought her to win the USA title. A very well deserved victory! Now can Crystle win miss Universe? She most definitely can....but the only problem is, she has to beat Venezuela. I truly believe that USA can achieve this title, but for some reason the competition is REALLY strong this year. We have Miss Venezuela, who looks like she too, is determined to win. Both USA and Puerto Rico are pageant veterans.....not to mention all of the beauty from Eastern Europe this year. Crystle has her work cut out for her...BUT with that said, she is a front runner, and probably one of the best representatives USA has had in a long time.

VA-VA-VA-VOOM VENEZUELA!!!!
How amazing is this girl? I love her oh so much! From Amazonas to Miss Venezuela....is Miss Universe in her future? I think she is the strongest delegate this year. Not only is Dayana Mendoza beautiful with an amazing body-she has the personality and the confidence to win it all. Dayana has been consistent eversince she was crowned and Osmel Sousa should be excited and confident that this girl may take the 5th Miss Universe crown home to Venezuela. There are rumorsabout her being the "diva" of the competition...but I don't think that's the case at all (although I'm not there)...I really favor this girl because once again, she has proven not only to be a consistent delegate, but she looks like she's having fun too. We'll see what happens on July 13th!
Ode To Jennifer Barrientos, Miss Philippines 2008
This girl has come a long way since her crowning of Binibining Pilipinas Universe. I actually was not impressed when she won, although in her photographs, there was a unique spark . I was rooting for Danielle Castano....but she only emerged as a runner up. So why was I not happy??....well first...her (Jennifer's) make up was always piled on. Second...she just wasn't on my list to win a title. And third I didn't think that she was competitive enough to compete against the powerhouses of the Universe. Boy, did she prove me wrong. Jennifer Barrientos is like a chameleon. Her look is so versatile, and she is in fact, quite stunning. She represents a true Filipina woman, because of her dusky qualities and her Pinay features. Her body is killer, and she improves every time I see her. The only downfall is her recycled wardrobe that has fallen on any girl that wins BB Pilipinas. They have to get some new styling, otherwise the trend will continue to follow, therefore no streak will be established. Jennifer Barrientos has the sweet, demure and sexy charm that can capture the hearts of any judge, but she needs to up her game with a little bit of attitude. Show her spunky side and more importantly the confidence within herself and her country's pride. As well all know, Filipinos are GREAT pageant fans..........
And just so you know...I am of Filipino descent!
MY FAVORITE MISS UNIVERSE(S) of ALL TIME
Miss Universe has been gracing our pageant obsessed minds since 1952. I started watching the pageant in 1993, when Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico won the crown. I became obsessed with it in 1997, when Brooke Lee of the USA won in Miami. After my interest had become a hobby, I started to research all of the former beauty queens and the history of the pageant. I have 3 favorite beauty queens, and they are all within the past 11 year time period.
Wendy Fitzwilliam of Trinidad & Tobago is my first favorite queen. She was crowned in Hawaii in 1998, and she was the most sophisticated woman I had ever seen. she rocked my world, and when she faltered during her final answer...my heart went out for her, but I knew the judges had to give the crown to her, because her performance up until that point was flawless. When Jack Wagner announced her as the winner.....I felt so happy and proud.
Jennifer Hawkins was a surprise favorite of mine. She was one of those girls, that you didn't really notice until the finals, and then she kind of grew on you. I didn't even put the girl in my preliminary favorites. Then she came out of nowhere during pageant and I adored her. She looked amazing during and after her reign, that I could not help but really like her. And her beauty was very refreshing, spunky and just an overall, natural. She was definitely NOT a pageant patty!

Natalie was the one I chose to win from the very start. She was my favorite during the Canadian pageant, and when she arrived in Thailand, looking the way she did, I had no doubt in mind that she was going to take the Universe by storm. Her body and evening gown were flawless, and she was the MOST intelligent out of the top 5. My personal opinion on girls that use translators even though they can already speak English-NOT FAIR. It buys the girl extra time to think about their answer. And if you watch the pageant all over again-the girls that used a translator answered in English. Natalie was the only one who answered her final question, without having it repeated. Overall though, Natalie was the best bet of 2005!
So it's been almost 2 weeks since the delegates have arrived in Vietnam. Hmm......Some girls immediately caught my attention, whereas others to me, are just "backstage" girls, you know, the front runner supporters or clappers on cue. Whatever.
I'm so sick and tired of the many controversies that lead to the pageant.
Ingrid Rivera was a clear front runner for Miss Puerto Rico...and then the whole pepper spray fiasco came about, which earned her the nickname of "Pepper" Rico-hilarious. Then they decide to alter an already beautiful girl with plastic surgery. What is this world coming to? I thought beauty pageants were supposed to be based on natural beauty. How NAIVE am I???? after all that's been said and done, she still looks beautiful.....but I still prefer Ingrid before.
That's my very first rant.....how exciting!
