THE EMOTIONAL EATER
Working with hundreds of people over the years with weight issues it has become apparent the number 1 problem for people in losing weight is emotional eating.
People don’t eat lots of unhealthy foods because there hungry it’s because they feel good doing it for awhile.
Ever find yourself sitting on the couch eating something and not remembering when or why you ate it in the first place.
Welcome to the world of emotional eating.
Emotional eating can pass in a half an hour or can last days or years, it can take over your life, and those that have this problem no exactly what I mean and how little control they can have over it.
Ignored feelings are one of the main culprits of over eating we have a hard day at the office or the kids have been sick all day so we knock down 3 slices of cold pizza or a bowl of chocolate ice cream.
Sometimes you don’t, you just feel pent up frustrated need an outlet so food is it.
Recognise it?
You are going to have to find a way of dealing with your emotions.
Handle each problem of the day as they come up don’t save them inside until you have a big melt down into a sea of chocolate.
Lack of self-soothing skills is one of the main causes of emotional eating. A lot of the clients I work with are too hard on them selves if we beat other people up the way we beat our selves up we would get 10 years in Junee. One of the reasons we’ve turned to food for comfort is because we don’t know how to soothe our selves in other ways.
Part of becoming a mature person means developing skills to sooth your emotions that are healthy and build you up (not build you out).
One of the reasons we get stuck in emotional eating is because we've no idea how to sooth and comfort ourselves. Many people go their whole lives never knowing that they are responsible for comforting themselves emotionally (without food).
Getting weight off due to emotional eating is hard to do because emotional eating is above the neck.
So find some one to help. At flex it we take a whole body approach MIND, .BODY, SOUL.
We will start by breaking the emotional eating habit via controlling addictive eating and high serotonin/insulin foods; over time this gives you back control and energy and helps you to feel good longer. This leads to weight loss and confidence, we then teach you to exercise properly to release feel good chemicals into your system and to release stress held in the body and muscles. From here you learn ways to deal with emotions and stress and to find other outlets then food to deal with them.
Put it all together and we can turn it around in 5 to 10 weeks.
